The trouble I have is the weapon is always on me, so this would be much too slow.

I dunno, it reminds me of the rank and file infantry guys giving the HQ bunch commands like "Right shoulder paper clips".

I think the whole point here is to teach them what SGT Steve McFarland said in his comment. I still think it's a valid teaching point on maintaining composure in an emergency. I think my first move here would be to flip the desk and hunker behind it.
