Claims over abortion safety
The American Center for Law and Justice, a Christian legal advice centre with 3.7 million Facebook followers, has written a widely-shared post claiming that "abortion is not safe" and calling on the US Supreme Court to reject arguments that it is.
This is a common claim but it's not supported by evidence.
While all medical procedures carry some risk, the US-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that between 2013 and 2018 there were 0.4 deaths per 100,000 legal abortions in the US.
This compares with 23.8 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2020.

Most likely. When I was at SOS in Alabama in the early 70s we had a miscarriage. State officials came to the base hospital to confirm it wasn't actually an abortion, that's what I fear we are going back to.

SrA John Monette - again, miscarriage isn’t an abortion and are very common . Products removed during surgery are sent to pathology for diagnosis, same as during D&C which stands for Dilation and Curettage, not abortion.

Of course a lot depends on if the fear is well founded. In this case it is. These types of incidents are a foreseeable result of non medical politicians making medical decisions.
