It's a scam to redistribute wealth from the middle class and lower to give to the super rich.

This is my problem with the Lottery here in Wisconsin. Spending as much time as I did in retail, I have sold many lottery tickets. The profits from lottery here in Wisconsin do not go where I wish they did, education, but rather to property tax relief. I have worked in stores with higher incomes and stores with lower. In one of the stores I worked at we had the Commissioner of Baseball at the time and former Brewers owner as a regular customer along with a number of professional baseball and basketball players. We sell very few lottery tickets in that type of store and a whole lot of tickets in neighborhoods with far lower incomes. What this amounts to is Robin Hood in reverse. We take money from the poor to reduce property taxes for those who own property. The relief I receive a year has been in the neighborhood of $90. Those people buying lottery tickets need that money in their neighborhoods far more than I need it.
