"White Christmas" - The Drifters

I went to my nephew's son's HS Christmas concert a few weeks ago. One of the selections was the "doo wop" version of White Christmas and they did it justice, especially the male and female soloists. When congratulating Luke on his performance after the concert I asked him if he knew who first did the doo wop version of White Christmas. He responded Michael Bublé (Michael Bublé and Shania Twain, 2003). I gave him a resounding NO, and explained that The Drifters first released that version in 1954! Needless to say, he was shocked! I'll bet their music teacher didn't know either and was very likely the person who told them all it was Michael Bublé! By the way, the high part on The Drifter's version was sung by the great male vocalist, Clyde McPhatter!
