We need to stop promoting children who can't function in their current grade.

COL. CHARLIE?......
TEACHERS, Please Read & Comment:
We've All Heard About The Program Brought In During The Reagan Administration.
It's Referred To As The "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND Program..
Here Was It's INTENT: "The Other Students In The Class Will Help Bring Those Students Up Whom Are Having Difficulties... THEREFORE: This Student Will Learn With The Others & Pass The Subject Also.....
NOW: Here's What Actually MUST Happen To Make The Program Successful:
The Subject is Taught TO The Level Of The Rooms LEAST Capable Student.
Therefore GUARANTEEING The Student's Success With Passing The Subject. ...
Therefore NONE Learn Much, BUT The "PROGRAM" Is Declared To Be "SUCCESSFUL"..
Obviously A Politically Driven Program, Which Accomplishes Nothing At All.
EXCEPT To Push The Student Ahead To The Following Year...NO CHILD'S LEFT BEHIND".
P.S. I'm SO Glad I DROPPED OUT. Mid 9th Grade. What A Waste Of MY Time It Was.....
I'm Roughly 95% SELF EDUCATED; Thanks To My Enlistment In The USAF & The Business Programs Available Through U.S.A.F.I; NOW I Have a GREAT Education, In SPITE Of Our Public Schools...

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - No child left behind was one of the worst pieces of legislation to ever pass and did zilch except hold back the average and advanced students.

VIC... Just From My Experience With Attending & Working In Our Schools,
I Honestly Believe The ENTIRE System Needs To Be Scrapped & Started All Over.
We Spend 13 YEARS In Public Schools & Graduate "QUALIFIED" To Do NOTHING .
Take A Look At What We Have, Then Ask Yourself;
" Upon Completion Of The 6th GRADE; What Did I Learn To Gain Employment, Or Even Add To My Making A Living"?...... And That's Where We Stand In Our 13 Years Of "Education"......
.Totally Unqualified To Actually Preform In Any Occupation....
And Our Colleges Don't Preform Any Better:

"How many college graduates actually work in the field they ...

There is a myth that if you have a college degree, you have a job.
The fact is that approximately 53% of college graduates are unemployed or working in a job that doesn’t require a bachelor’s degree.
It takes the average college graduate three to six months to secure employment after graduation.Apr 9, 2021. Is someone with a college degree more likely to get a job? In March 2020, the employment rate was higher for those with higher levels of educational attainment.

SAD... Very Damned SAD

Good for Tennessee! You are 100% right. From my observations with my grandchildren this can only be solved by parents working with their children (really doing their reading homework and maybe a little more), or additional remedial schoolwork after normal school hours where the children are actually reading. My opinion is that most children need more time reading than normal school hours affords.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - We are discussing the best way we can educate our Country’s children. Reviewing history to see what worked and what didn’t work is only part of that process. I hear a lot about what is wrong from you, but not much about what worked in our history and how we can apply it in today’s world. I suppose finding what worked before and applying it (modifying it) to today’s standards is the secret sauce of life.

“THEY Should Be Able To Do It In 13 YEARS, Full Time…” I respectively disagree. A child/adult needs to learn the basics of language, mathematics, and science… or even the arts before they can progress toward more advanced ambitions. We also need to look at a child’s level of maturity to a point where they can “think critically on their own”. For most I believe that is sometime I high school, and then, and only then, can they decide “what they want to pursue (what they want to be)”. Maturity comes into the situation and as we know we can’t teach maturity. Be examples, yes.

“essential to the global market”? If I were like my Pinko counterparts I would ask you to explain what this is, but I won’t. The United States and the world is constantly changing, and therefore changing the measure of what is essential to the global market. It’s constantly evolving just like our climate. No one can stop it, nor should they try.

Like I said before: In my opinion the best we can do for our children is provide them the basics, maybe more if they show the ability, less we discourage them. Wanting to “give’ them everything in 13 years is an unrealistic expectation in my opinion. I will venture a well intentioned personal comment. I respectively submit if you have an unrealistic expectation you feel strongly about, you will be angry as long as you have the expectation. I will say no more about this topic now.

SFC (Join to see) - ... I Have a Reason For Attacking The System.
The SOB'S Almost Made Me Drop Out... I'd Had Enough Of Their Crap & Knew I Needed What They Weren't Offering... A Damned EDUCATION.....As Previously Stated:
"THINK For A Moment.. What Did You Learn In Public Schools AFTER The 6th GRADE, Which Added To Your Knowledge For Employment Or A Better Life"?
Believe Me.. You'll Notice, Same As I..."NOT A FA-KING THING."....ZERO ~ For Putting In 6 MORE Years Of Schooling.
Now THAT's SAD As All "L"
