My mom's brother Pfc. Clifford Reed was a 3-inch gunner on Wake Island. He was a POW in Shanghai and Hokkaido Japan performing slave labor in coal mines.

My Moms brother, Joe McCoy was a P.O.W. in Germany for a lot of the war. He survived, returned, to Kansas and raised a family. He didn't talk about the war.

SPC Lyle Montgomery - Ditto for my uncle. He went to see my mom and dad in LA when he came home. When they sat down to dinner, he flipped over his dinner plate, saw "Made in Japan" on it and started breaking all the china. He left and never came back. I never met him. . . .
