I'm so conflicted by this tank. In the Pacific, it was the monster and workhorse of the battlefield. Mainly because it was working as intended, an infantry support weapon.

In Europe, once the heavier German tanks came, it became a round sponge at times. But those damn things kept coming off the assembly line and showing up on the battlefield.

Where I think the Sherman excelled was in their crews. They learned from every engagement and the machine was an adaptable platform that worked well.
