I read this book. It actually helped me and i can relate fully with the memories it held.

I have read Tim OBrien’s” The Things They Carried” even have it as an audio book,has had a profound effect on my memories of that place which I carry to this day,also a bit of a guilt trip ,since after my return from Vietnam, I was asssigned to Ft.Polk as a patrolling instructor for my remaining fourteen months training Infantry AIT trainees for their tours,I carry the guilt,did I do the best job possible? Was I an effective,professional soldier? Welcome Home Brothers.

Back at ya, Phil. When I was director of the USMA-ROTC Military History Fellowship at West Point I invited Tim to speak. He was very well received by our visiting professors. He was in the 198th LIB, which served in the AO just north of my unit: the 11th LIB's 3-1st Inf. operating off Hill 4-11 just south of the Song Tra Khuc river in Quang Ngai Province.
