Interesting share, I don't know how anyone could bear the grief of inflicting friendly fire. I know no one ever does it on purpose but that would be an awful burden to bear.

The 7th ID had a rough go in the Aleutians. The weather and terrain were a worse enemy than the Japanese.

"Though Kiska was ultimately recaptured it came at great cost and serves as a cautionary tale of the effects of perception and assumption explained Kostka. It also serves to show that no military operation is ever without risk."

It is not always easy to leave perception and assumption at the door when objectivity is required, but it is necessary. It is also a lesson about the weaknesses of our own human nature it is useful to be reminded from time to time - to avoid painful needing to relearn it.
