Not to mention the Field Marshal Paulus was one of the Few that survived captivity. The whole command of Paulus' that went into captivity was decimated in the POW camps and gulags and forced labor. The Russian guards, winters, lack of consistent food/ water and disease took the once numerous German POW's and in the end less than 5 % of those entering captivity made it back to Germany after being released years later . The Russians got a measure of Revenge on the German Enemy...
But the main players of the Nazi War machine escaped or shot themselves before being captured . Some leaders were even helped by the Vatican. Check out the " Odessa Files" . Interesting watch. / reading.
After all was said and done... the only thing left of OKW/ SS command was gold teeth filled Swiss Bank deposit boxes. On another side of the coin , a massive number of alleged Jewish owned accounts that sadly could not be returned/ no one came back for them seemingly still remain in Swiss accounts if they haven't been claimed by the Swiss Government/ absorbed by the banks for being defunct / abandoned accounts.
