From Here to Eternity (1953) Japan Bombs Pearl Harbor

December 7th will be 82 years since pearl Harbor attack of 12-7-1941. Only a handful of the survivors of this attack are still alive and they would be probably about a 100 years old. Most of them will be gone/passed away in the next five years.
Even though this is Hollywood Movie production, this was actually filmed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
These barracks were still being used in 2011. I walked by these barracks. My army Reserve Civil Affairs Unit had an exercise related to Korea's Key Resolve. My unit spent time at Schofield Barracks, Tripler Army Medical Center housing and at Fort Schafter.
Some units of the Active duty army 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning) were occupying them.
Some of the bullet holes from the Japanese planes are still visible on some of the buildings.
If you look closely, you will recognize Actors other than Burt Lancaster. Jack Warden and Claude Aikens are shown shooting at Japanese planes from the roof of the barracks.

Great movie! Montgomery Clift and Donna Reed made a great couple. Burt and Frank Sinatra both had awesome roles . . .

I have seen this move a few times. My first time to visit Pearl Harbor was February 1965. Most of Ford Island still showed the battle scars from the Aerial attack.
