Those serving in Alaska , Antarctica , .. should get higher pay. Long ago the Army did a " study on the difference between Alaskan Indigenous peoples and Conus American's tolerances for cold. They found no physical differences. And they concluded that American service personnel should stop griping about how cold it is.
They did leave out the fact that if you're born and live in warmer climes, your body is used to those warmer temps and would find AC / cold weather conditions troubling.
And if you are raised in colder climes your body is used to those temps as normal and would have some difficulty in warmer/ tropical climes.
It's all in what you grew up with when dealing with many things person centric.

I get cold just reading about this Brother Dale. I think they would definitely deserve extra pay because that is some truly extreme conditions.
