Civilian and military pay raises are set by law based on inflation -- unless the administration says that there are special circumstances why the government cannot afford the pay raise. EVERY administration has used that provision to avoid giving civilian employees the automatic pay raise that would keep pace with inflation. I think the military have gotten their full pay raise once or twice but generally no one working for the federal government gets an annual pay raise that matches inflation -- certainly no one is keeping pace with Biden's inflation rate.

I thought social Security and the V.A. gave raises based on inflation also Brother Thomas. Ours wasn't 5.2% was it?

PO3 Edward Riddle - Yes, they are all based on changes in the "Cost of Living Index" but each is a separate law and uses a different formula.

Pretty much everyone (except congress) usually gets a smaller raise than the formulas call for.
