I like stuff like this. Sometimes I wonder about how some scientists think. A scientist was concerned about how other scientists didn’t like the fact that pre historic kids “ruined” prehistoric trash piles. The concerned scientist reminded his colleagues that children are a part of human history. The concerned scientist made junk piles to see what kids would do and he studied kids. Another scientist decided that early men would hunt and feast leaving women at home with kids to starve because animal processing sites were located some distance from the actual settlement site. I guess it never cured to the scientist that blood, guts etc discarded in the processing of dead animals would draw scavengers and predators. Processing animal was probably better done a distance away from the village. We really can not fully understand their reasoning. All we can do is speculate.

Since the hunt might take days to conclude, and preserving meat was not a widely-known skill, it would make sense for the hunting party to feast on the kill and then bring "left overs" back home. Dragging a huge corpse would be impractical and would attract dangerous predators. So, it's understandable that leaving the remains of the hunt away from the village might be best practice.
