Excellent video. The logic behind attacking a disabled ship under tow baffles me. Perhaps U-boat commanders had a quota system.

A likelihood was to make sure that it couldn't be brought to operational status again.

A truism in attrition warfare is it is much more preferable to wound enemy personnel but destroy enemy equipment, and Germany was very much focused on tonnage warfare against UK shipping during WWII.
