This has been a "Ford vs. Chevy" type of debate for many decades.

30-30 for when you can reach down from your strand and smack the deer with the buttstock, 30-06 when you need to shoot across the field, 6.5 Creedmore when you need to shoot across the valley, .338 Lupia for most everything else, .50 BMG for everything else....And yes I have something chambered in all

A AR-10 chambered in the common 7.62 willk not cover what 6.5 Creedmore, .338 Lupia or .50 BMG excell in...

Dont get me wrond, Im a fan of the AR-10 platform, but it has limitations .. It is a swiss army knife capable of many things, great at few.

If I Am Hunting In The Thick PA Brush , I Use A 30-30 Topped With A Bushnell 3-9 Scope.
If I Am Hurting Across A Power Line Or A Corn Field I Prefer The 30-06 Topped With A Bushnell 4-12 Scope.
YES I Like Bushnell Scopes ! They Are Affordable And Get The Job Done.
