During the freshman year of my daughter's high school, the school decided it would be a good idea to throw baby showers for students who became pregnant. Sounds inclusive, sounds caring. All is lovely. By the end of my daughter's high school career, the teen pregnancy rate at the school more than tripled. Praise God she wasn't one of them. For a number of reasons, the superintendent and principle were removed. The new superintendent terminated the school baby shower program. The teen pregnancy rate dropped back to the pre-baby shower rate in less than 2 years.

Socially awkward teens who feel isolated will quite often affect aberrant behavior if it gives them some feeling of acceptance. So, declaring and affecting LGBTQ+ personhood is a way to get pizza for everyone is a grooming method.

There I said it and I have no intention of apologizing. It is not the province of educators to develop aberrant personality traits.

We should all really be far gone with as much pizza as we have eaten in our family yet none of us for 4 generations that I have knowledge of are gay. The idea that anyone "claims the savory pie is leading high schoolers into a gay lifestyle or to pursue transgender identities" is bonkers

"The get-together provides a safe space in a classroom setting for the LGBTQ+ community and allies, supporters say." Why are tax dollars going to promote one thing and not others? Are they holding pizza parties for Muslim students who feel threatened, Jewish students who need a safe space or feel threatened and so on and so on. Taxpayer dollars should not be used to support one group and not others.

NOW...Do I think the following is true. "Thompson thinks the pizza party is turning students gay and/or transgender, and proposed an amendment to halt the pie program." Absolutely not...a pizza party really turning someone gay...NOT!

I do agree with the solution "That $1,400 would have to be raised from private sources — and it quickly was." If they want to do this just like any other group do it with private funds...then no one can have a leg to stand on...no issue.
