I attended the Masters as a second lieutenant in 1974! I was at Fort Gordon for the Signal Officer Basic Course and, at the time, any service member could attend by wearing a dress uniform (Class Bs), showing a military ID and paying $5/day! I went Saturday and Sunday and watched Gary Player win the tournament. Absolutely incredible!

It’s been eons since I was at Fort Gordon, CMSgt (Join to see). However, I think Fort Gordon now gets a relatively small allotment and they are distributed via lottery. Even today, I marvel at my good luck in being at the right place at the right time.
Imagine just walking up to the gate and giving Augusta National $5.00 and walking right in!
