If the examples cited are factual, the reliefs are well justified. Not using UCMJ if the situation calls for it, would be tantamount to not doing your duty.

SGT (Join to see) - Per the article -- ARTICLE 88: Contempt towards officials:
Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct

CSM Chuck Stafford Considering how Article 88 is written my question is when does that take precedence over the Constitution and vise versa?
Kind of like following the posted speed limit on a highway vs staying with the flow of traffic.

The author isn't wrong. We do have a problem among the senior officers and Generals who are serving now. There are those in that select group who seem to consider themselves untouchable by either the civilian command structure or the UCMJ.
LTC Kevin B. is correct. There were officers who were openly opposed to then President Clinton's appointments, orders, and his draft avoidance. A Marine Major was the most public relief for cause.
Prior to President Trump's second term, there were two very public reliefs for cause. A Marine Lt. Col. for asking. through social media, when were their going to be firings for the Afghanistan retreat debacle and the death of 13 military personnel. I believe he was right but as a Lt. Col., that/those question(s) should have either remained unasked or made in private conversations.
The second was of a Air Force Lt Col who was discussing on a podcast how Marxist doctrine was being assimilated into the US. The reason he was on the podcast was because he had written a book on the very subject he was being interviewed for. Did he have permission from higher to publish the book, who knows?
As for publishing under a nom de plume, I have zero issues with it. Now weee he making new accusations, it's a different story. Just remember, certain parties were okay with an anonymous whistleblower giving 'information' to members of Congress which was used to impeach a President. Of course, it was later found that Mr. Anonymous had zero first hand information as he received it from LTC Vindman.

LTC Trent Klug - Anonymous accusations without supporting evidence is weak sauce. Calling it free speech still doesn't give it any validity. Plus, the writer is broadly disparaging a group because they obviously don't have the goods to be specific and/or the balls to name anyone.
I don't know anything at all about Brown, so I can't comment on him, other than that he did nothing wrong. His firing was a political firing under the guise of the General being political. The irony is thick.

That Marine Lt. Col. is still around as far as I know. The whole scenario unfortunately cost him more than his job, I'm sad to say.

Brown established racial recruiting quotas on officer accessions while CoS of the Air Force.

Certainly, turbulent times in the US military. Not a fan of a nom de plume opinion piece. Officers are bound to the Constitution, not ideology.

The anonymous writer also has a poor memory. I recall quite a bit of angst on AD when Clinton was sworn into office. I was a young and impressionable 2LT at the time, and I was shocked at what I heard from some senior officers. It was similar, but not as bad, when Obama was sworn into office. Things were more relaxed when GWB was sworn in, and I was retired by the time Trump and Biden were sworn into office.
