Two things in this article stood out to me.
"Trump has referred to an “invasion” of illegal aliens. That characterization does not seem wildly off-base when one sees the ostensible fealties of the alleged invaders."
"In the end, only 44 illegal aliens were picked up in the allegedly “mass” deportation raids in Los Angeles County. Their records include second-degree murder, assault with the intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon, sexual battery, grand theft larceny, illegal weapon possession, and drug trafficking. These are the individuals whom the entirety of California’s Democratic establishment is willing to go to the mat to protect, while denouncing Trump’s efforts to defend businesses, peaceful property owners, commuters, and the police."
Pretty damning stuff.

It is all very confusing -- When Gov Abbott in Texas wanted to seal his border, the feds came in and said it was not a state issue. And now in CA, they don't want it to be a federal issue...Hmmm

Let's delve into the details.
Unlike 2020, where southern California experienced simultaneous protests in over 50 cities and the Guard was immediately deployed, this last week has been limited to less than a half dozen street corners in and around the downtown area.
LAPD and LASD, with mutual aid from CHP and the many unimpacted surrounding cities and counties, did, in fact, have the situation well in hand, which is why there was no request sent up, nor direct order from the governor, for the Guard.
As it stands now, with the Guard in T10 and limited to protecting federal property and agents, they are essentially assisting by taking over the day shift for the lines in front of those to buildings, sparing a few dozen officers for other shifts in other locations.
As for the rest of this op-ed,
"California’s cradle-to-grave welfare subsidies for illegal aliens" is grossly misleading.
CA has a 48 month limit, and a cumulative total 60 month limit for all assistance for any working age adult (18 to 65), other than medical.
