The idea that Fenanyl has no currently accepted medical value is absolutely false. It is one of, if not, the most used narcotic in operating rooms by anesthesia personnel.

Sgt Jim Belanus - the most creative thing about the lozenge, or "fentanyl lollipop", was that the stick was taped down to the patient's hand, and then his hand was tied to his gear with rubber bands.

If the patient became too drowsy to pull against the rubber bands to keep the lozenge in his mouth, the bands snapped his hand down away from his face, preventing the unmonitored patient from over-medicating himself.

after breaking my leg last winter the EMTs gave me just a tiny bit for the bumpy ride to the hospital...helped amazingly and no side effects

Early in my nursing career I administered a large amount of morphine to combat wounded and thought it was a good medication. Then I started in the ICU and ER and for many injuries, fentanyl has become my preferred medication. Toradol is IV med of choice for conditions an anti-inflammatory is better for, like renal stones. This is a bad move by our government.

Doesn't Seem To Get Many Things Right.

This is a horrible idea and will hurt more people than it will help.

That link is just a paywall, but unless the bill is splitting some fine lines, it seems that Fentanyl should be in Schedule 2, not Schedule 1.
