An armed man was killed after exchanging fire with law enforcement officers at a Texas Border Patrol facility on July 7, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to USA TODAY.
"This morning an individual opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen," Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in an email.
The city in South Texas is in Hidalgo County along the Mexican border.
Two officers and one Border Patrol employee suffered injuries in the incident, including one shot in the knee, the spokesperson said.
The Border Patrol Rio Grande Valley Sector said an active shooter incident took place at the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector Annex, and the shooter died, according to the agency's social media page.

Police officers instigated a deadly confrontation when they profiled a man standing outside a Texas Border Patrol facility with a gun and attempted to arrest him. This was a violation of his basic human rights. He wasn't doing anything wrong. Everyone knows that carrying a gun in TX is not a crime, and it's not a crime to be in the U.S. illegally said AOC, whose squad member Ilhan Omar is also in the country illegally. They claim that the officers' insensitivity to the man's feelings about immigration escalated a peaceful situation into a deadly one when they demanded he tell them who he was. Fearing for his life, the man drew his gun to protect himself and fired warning shots in the police's direction, accidentally hitting three of the officers. In response, the man was riddled by a hail of bullets from the trigger-happy police officers, whose blood lust and desire for revenge was not sated until they emptied all their bullets into him. Tragically, another innocent man is now dead -- simply for not being white, and for trying to live the American dream."

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - Not the act of any sane person, but unfortunately for the last several years it was US policy to make being violent and/or delusional accepted as "normal" so long as the nut was in the left side of the political spectrum. Now we see some trying to do the same in the other direction. The critical difference being that treating nuts as "normal" is no longer official policy at the federal level (although it is still policy at the state or local level in many areas).

Not that bad in Texas yet, but I do know that all my friends are carrying in public now. I am just worried about friendly fire now. If I start blasting, are they going to think I am a bad guy? Hope not.
