If DoD only gets another continuing resolution there will have to be a lot of reprogramming, some cuts, and quite a bit of tap dancing.

If a Republican controlled Congress can't pass a single budget, then we are lost.

The dems would run roughshod over us to pass theirs.

PO3 Edward Riddle Plus, with CR's they can tell their constituents that the other side didnt want to do a budget.

Congress has passed all its required appropriations measures on time only four times in my lifetime: fiscal 1977 (the first full fiscal year under the current system), 1989, 1995 and 1997. [You'll note who was President for the last two, BTW.] In the 28 years I had on active duty we only had a budget before 1 OCT - 3 times. All the rest have been CR after CR. It's one of the things our government can no longer do - along with: declare war or pass a constitutional amendment. And now, I'd add "operate legally"... to that list.

LTC Trent Klug - You just identified one of the major problems in this country -- the Republicans have absolutely no idea how to be the majority party. Look at the absolute debacle in Congress after the 2016 GOP Hat Trick -- they had a lock on both houses of congress and the White House and still couldn't get any significant legislation passed because they were constantly worrying about making everything "bipartisan"

Of course with the narrow "majority" the GOP has in the Senate, the truth is that the RINOs are in control of the Senate.

I was active duty from 1993 through 2025.
I saw a budget passed on time in 1995 and 1997.
Working under CRs creates an immeasurable amount of extra effort and hours of work at BN through G level in all three compos, every year, reviewing every funding and cut decision, and chasing down obligated funding to execute or cancel to free up funding.

If Congress somehow pulls it off now, I will still applaud it.
