Sgt (Join to see) I thought it was interesting that the explosion appears to occur along the star's axis of rotation, and that gravity might account for the initial 'olive' shape.

First there is the raw beauty. Then there is the "brain power" it took to figure out how to look for, and find, these things. Next up is the unfathomable power in these explosions. Followed up with just how much distance they cover when they go "bang." And finally there is the human humbling number of years in the past these things happened before their light reaches us. What is "now" for us, was billions of years ago for it. And there is the reason that it is safe to use the word: "Awe" when describing these things. Total Awe!
