The problem is that tariffs are not hurting China. They've simply moved to different markets.

I don't think we care THAT much if someone else buys their crap. The important thing is to reduce our trade deficit overall. This is more about improving our economy than trashing theirs.
I think you meant to say that our trade deficit, not surplus, was $26B. -$26B is still a MASSIVE improvement, it was -$1T a couple years ago!
