The Insurrection Act, Which Trump Keeps Threatening to Invoke, Is Alarmingly Vague and Broad:

"Some of those triggers, the ALI noted, “are expressed in antiquated language,” such as “combination,” “obstruction” and “assemblage,” with no clear contemporary meaning. Worse, “the Insurrection Act contemplates no role for Congress in the use of the authorities under the Act even though the president receives those authorities from Congress.”'
Above is an example from the article of the doublespeak being used to try and keep POTUS from invoking the act. Those highlighted word are not antiquated, I understand them just fine. The second part is just Congress want to be in the loop that the Constitution has cut them out of, trying to usurp the powers of the Executive.
As a Sovereign Nation, we're not dealing with Britain, Spain, or France trying to take over a new country, and Our Freedoms, such as when the ACT was written. In the 21st Century we're dealing with other causes and ideals that are just as dangerous to our Freedoms. No one likes the idea of troops patrolling our streets. If it's a necessity, covered by the Constitution and Law, do what needs doing and get it over with.
