How Fascinating, Maj William W. 'Bill' Price! We never stop learning about the things we heretofore never knew! So much more to learn about our Solar System and it's planets!

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price I understood a little bit in this article. So our space probe Cassini was sent inside the plumes on Enceladus (a dark moon) that previously we gathered data by circling it and retrieved evidence of water. Upon entering the plumes we found an ocean and there could possibly be a life form. Correct?

PO3 Phyllis Maynard The plumes are ejecting water vapor and silica particles from the South Pole of Enceladus. In its orbits around Saturn, Cassini passed through those plumes and provided confirmation of previous observations. We know of hydrothermal vents on Earth, where they are located, and how they function. Is that what we are seeing on Enceladus? Given what we know of these processes on Earth, the data suggests the answer is yes.

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price I am going to ask questions from here on out. It is hard trying to understand on my own when I do not have a clue how to understand the lingo and the professional references. I may be your dimmest student. :)
