I've told the story before on here...one day, I'd bee walking between blogs while at USAF OTS, why I can't recall now...I'm the distance I could see Wilford Hall hospital outside Medina Annex at Lackland where the school was before it got moved to Maxwell...all of a sudden, I heard a zillion screaming sirens, with a zillion flashing red lights, saw a zillion links and motorcycles pull up to the door of the hospital in the distance...I was told later it was the motorcade for the Shah the day Pres Carter admitted him to the US for chemotherapy...I'd just happened to be looking in the right direction, at the right time, in the right place, to actually see it, fortuitously...also, all of at the school has seen many of the guys from there who'd been going through the program with us, before being sent to UPT or UNT for pilot/nav training...there were numerous times I and others going through the school would sit with them in the cafeteria...I always figured after the the Shah was thrown out, though, that they could obv never go back of course, none of us ever said anything about it to any of them, certainly, however, that they were all training there when we were was obv common knowledge, of course....
