In other news the National Guardsman was just told by his training NCO, if he gets SSD1 done he can go to WLC.

Sgt Frank Rinchich - While very very uncommon, its not unheard of in any branch. I can think of only one example of where the USAF did double promote, that was for William Pitsenbarger. Who posthumously was awarded the Medal of Honor, and given the double promotion to SSgt.

I saw this one time when I was overseas. The USAF member had aced his SSgt promotion test and was promoted to Tsgt, then to MSGt a month later. So in essence he went from SGT to MSGT in 6 months. Promotion to SSGT due to acing test, got 1 stripe from squadron commander and second one from Wing commander. He even got a choice assignment for his family, a remote base in Italy, where their were only 50 people. Never heard from him again.
In other news, the same commanders took two stripes away from someone in my squadron, he was demoted from Tsgt to SGT, in two article 15 actions. Which were reversed when he returned stateside - and he got all of the back pay returned to him.
In yet other news, one of my friends assisted in a car accident saving a local german citizen, he got nothing for it, no medals, no promotion and not even a thank you.. so things can go any which way

He and his friends committed a very selfless act by saving a great deal of people and the train from a terrorist attack and saved a guy's life while he himself was wounded. I think he deserves everything he's got coming to him. Great job, Ssgt Stone.

Airmen in the Air Force who go above and beyond deserve the stripes. If you meet minimum requirements for an AFSC, do you deserve a stripe? A1C Stone deserves a treat.

I am actually surprised at the amount of animosity towards (S)Sgt Stone's promotion. I think the Air Force got it right on this one. I am sure if he isn't ready to be an NCO (as some would argue) he will take that challenge head on...just like he did on that train.

PO2 Scott Rush
LCDR, He is only being promoted one stripe. He has already earned his SrA (E4) stripe and will put that on in October then step promoted to SSgt (E5).

LCDR Rabbi Jaron Matlow - As PO2 Scott Rush already stated, A1C Stone already had a line number for Senior Airman (E-4). He'll pin on SrA as scheduled, then promote to SSgt.

SSgt (Join to see) I think that it is misdirected. No service member should be treated negatively for being promoted. Realistically, he has no control over his situation right now. Through their actions in saving lives these men made themselves public figures. Whether they like it or not is irrelevant. They are public figures, and they are such because of an act of selflessness. Politicians are going to milk that until it is dry. On a side note, showing negativity toward him for being promoted is like blaming the cow for steak.
