Yes. Sgt. Bergdahl has suffered much trauma that also rings in my heart. He undoubtedly is unstable psychologically and due to his earlier problem in another one of the military services he should have not been accepted into the Army. What is past is done so let us hope the Army decides upon the right deposition upon that soldier.

Too bad it is not as simple as that! The Civil War was really the last war that allowed for the immediate execution for greatly errant soldiers. Even then, President Lincoln extended amnesty to many federal soldiers up on capital charges. Soldiers stood up on cowardice in the face of the enemy either were executed on the spot or shortly thereafter. It seems more humane to go ahead and execute the offenders than draw it out like what happens today.
