The A-10 Warthog has been the friend of the infantry and other ground-based forces for a long time. I concur with you Capt Lance Gallardo that the USAF should back off from retiring the A-10. If a replacement is in the mix, I hope the replacement is a CAS fixed wing, long on station, fast to get there, big, mixed, payload aircraft which is focused on ground support.

Thanks Sir. The criteria list is short and sweet, a subsonic (but close to supersonic), fixed wing aircraft that can carry a lot of whup ass (and can take some whup ass itself), air to air refueling capability, and long on station loitering. I also like the idea of the CAS Plane being able to operate from a close to the front, improvised airfield, with a short take off roll (3-4 K meters). The dream spec might also be that it can run on mixed fuels, AvGas, Regular car unleaded and diesel. The kind of fuels a bulk fuel unit will have in the field for the MRAPs and other standard Army and Marine Corps inventory Vehicles.
