'You still have to complete a 4473, and apparently ATF has been logging them'
Do you have information that confirms the FBI is "logging" 4473s?
As a former FFL holder, I know at that time the FFL holder retained the 4473s for 20 years, then destroyed them. When the FFL holder goes out of business they must turn in their firearms log to ATF.
Unless something has changed, the FBI are forbidden from maintaining data on those who go through a background check, which does not reflect the firearm anyway only if it is a long gun or a handgun.
So, what is the FBI logging?

SGT (Join to see) - Sorry, missed read it. Still, the ATF does not log 4473s either.

ATF Keeping 920+ Million Firearm Records with Almost All Digitized
This is NOT a gun registry. ATF assures us they do "not capture...information, such as firearms purchaser information" & "ATF ....does not violate any laws."

SGT (Join to see) - Please explain to me how the ATF scans the 4473s when they don't get those forms? When I sold my business (2000), I turned in my digital log CD) and kept the 4473s as the law requires. I had a bit of a ceremony when I burned those forms in 2020.
