Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to this edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for March 2, 2025.
We take a whimsical step back into the APOD archives this morning. You've probably seen the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image before. The original dataset was collected from September 2003 to January 2004. The first version of the image was released on March 9, 2004.
What if you could represent the distance of an object by sound? That's what we see (and hear) in today's APOD. Visit the APOD home page and mouse over today's image. The closer a galaxy is to Earth, the higher the note/tone you will hear. I found a galaxy 12.5 billion light years away. What's the furthest galaxy you could find?

WOW ~~ With A Full Array Of Colors And Millions Of Light-Years From Earth.
Which I STILL Can't Comprehend. It Just Wraps Around My Brain, Tightens Up And
Can't Calculate Those Numbers In Miles ~ Even IF It DID, I'd Still Not Understand.
