I'd be curious why people would bring pets to Arlington. Service animals I can see, but just normal every day family pets? Just why?

SGT (Join to see) - It's just not something I can wrap my head around. I mean, even if it wasn't Arlington; even a city cemetery, bringing a non-service animal is disrespectful at best.

PO3 David Fries - That's the way I feel too. There is a lady at our church that brings her dog to church in a doggie stroller. I don't agree with that either.

Does this include service animals? The Arlington National Cemetery is a very humbling and emotionally powerful place. Those with certain disabilities may need their service animal more than ever.

*Edit: Just read the post.
Under the new policy, only service animals and working military dogs will be allowed on cemetery grounds.

Great post.

It'd be illegal to ban them.

That is why I had an immediate concern. Glad to see they are allowed.

ENS (Join to see) I'm sure the military working dog and service dogs aren't banned. Thank you for researching that and finding out they aren't banned.

I certainly wouldn't want Rover doing his business anywhere in Arlington or any other cemetery, SGT (Join to see). People are lazy and have probably left messes for the Arlington staff to clean up. No objections from me.

I'm sure leaving their dog's mess has happened. I'm surprised they haven't shut it down before now LTC Stephen C..
