Wow. No excuse for that kid being in the driver's seat. Were the S-3 and battalion commander given demerits as well? What about the air ambulance folks - one chopper got lost ... in South Korea? That's lame.

It's because of shit like this that we have standards. An organization that does not follow standards often makes mistakes or is corrupt. When I was a tanker it was regulation that drivers hatches would be closed when we were moving. I wonder if the drivers hatch was open or closed.

In armor officer basic course I did many hours driving in a simulator then drove in the field.

The intercom is very important. That is how the TC communicates with the crew. My crew and I practiced rollover drills several times. I yelled, "Brace!" It told the crew to be prepared for a rollover.
