Good post. It will be interesting to watch this one play out. I'm of mixed emotions. If you want competent people with a proven success record in appointed government positions, you've got to be willing to accept some baggage as well. The question then becomes how much is too much ... and can the Congress adequately exercise its watchdog role to ensure the baggage doesn't adversely impact on service to our country while the person is in the position. Hopefully the Congressional hearings will determine that without a bunch of political rancor coming into play.
