Wouldn't it have been easier to just resign her commission?

Because for her, it's her rank and position that leads to the validation of her statements.

Right? I've seen captains resign; they've usually fulfilled their obligation by that point and get out. Why stay if you hate it so much?

1LT (Join to see) - Free money. The Army has a lot of Soldiers who do the bare minimum and collect a paycheck.

I find it funny that she was all for the "war machine" when it was paying her college tuition...but not so much anymore.

Funny how that works, isn't it? Only with people that don't have the "calling" I suppose.

I really hope she finds her way to a communist country one day and stays there. I bet she would be begging to come back in 14 days.

PO1 Raymond Fochler Funny story... I have family that is pretty middle of the road leaning conservative. They have a son who went away to college. One semester, and he comes back for X-mas holidays and he is spouting all the liberal talking points that he learned in school. He had the gaul to tell farmers that maybe we should try socialism! Anyway, he went on a study abroad to South America... saw socialism up close and now he is a firm believer that the US is amazing!

Isn't funny how that works. The military gets an up close look in basic on what a socialist/communist life is. When all of your freedoms are stripped away you really come to terms with what this country is really all about. We are by no means perfect. But we do believe that each person should be able to live their life to the best of their own abilities. No other place in the world can someone with the guts and tenacity to follow their dreams make a pretty darn good life for themselves. After battle stations was over for me and we stood at attention for reveille i couldn't hold back the tears. Knowing everything that i had been through the past 8 weeks was preparing me to defend the very freedoms i gave up when i signed on was one of those light bulb moments for me.
