We had our Bat bomb plan too! Release bats with incendiary things on their legs. Fly under Japanese Roof eaves and burn the paper houses down.

It was a good plan but it never came to fruition. In one of the tests the bat flew in a hangar and burned it down along with the commanders jeep. Here's the link.

Yes, the Japanese were also bombing and shelling the mainland in '42 and early '43 directly from submarine-launched aircraft and submarines. This news was suppressed so heavily because they did not want to cause a panic. Luckily, Nimitz played Midway right and the Japanese had to fall back on the balloon bombing blitz.

There was something more to it about the crystals in the sand ballast bags. They came from a specific beach in Japan. ID'd the location of the source.
