I have to agree with the TSgt. I do see in some circumstances where non compete has a purpose, I worked for a bank that had an internal training program with advanced software and they did not want their employees to share its secrets in an effort to remain competitive.
Then again very few employers pay attention to the ideas of lower level employees because they work for them

Marie Butler If the non-competes were just for the purpose of protecting trade secrets, I'd agree. However, the vast majority of them are not just non-disclosure statements but restrictions on going to work at competitors, in many cases locking the employee in at that employer if they want to work in their chosen profession.
