I don't think Putin is a Communist. He embraces capitalism and Christianity ( in a rather strange way). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwWYu_d62Z0 Putin is basically a dictator.

I and my family are Russian Orthodox (my mother's side) and grew up in the Russian Church in Exile. This was a separation away from the Russian Church because of Communist control and oppression. Stalin allowed a revival of the Church for political and social reasons during the war. However, the Church soon lost their status after the war.
I personally did not like the Russian Orthodox Churches in America reconnecting with the Russian Church because of close ties they had to the Russian political leadership. I now attend a Serbian Orthodox, Antiochan Orthodox, or Orthodox Church of America. The OCA is directly descended from the Russian Orthodox Church and is recognized by the Russians as autocephalous (self-governing), but not by all of the other Patriarchs.
My prayer book is actually marked as printed by the Russian Church in Exile and was translated to English by them.

Russia has been communist for a while, but they were Christian first. And they're Babushka problem was the young girls raised in the church who became grandmother's under communism and pray for a Revival. Some say that Christianity moves with less opposition and Russia than here in the United States.

Kind of a head scratcher there. I'm sort at a loose for words on this one.
