This article is a bad joke. Tsarnaev was tried in a FEDERAL court, not a state court. Massachusetts has not had the death penalty for decades - 1984 to be exact. Had he been tried in a state court, the maximum penalty would have been life without the possibility of parole.
The clown who penned the article obviously has an axe to grind with the Commonwealth, justifiably or not, but the Tsarnaev case is not the one to hold out as an example since the state had no involvement.
The author is also blissfully unaware of the series of automatic appeals in capital punishment cases. Challenging whether the defandant received a fair trial is so common that it is routine in capital cases.

MSgt Gene B. So, this clown (who was born and grew up in Boston) has an issue with the Commonwealth. Yes, I do but at the same time you'd have us all believe that the federal judges were all bussed in from out-of-state and not elevated from the Massachusetts judicial system to the federal bench, and the same for prosecutors? The judicial system in Boston has been corrupt and self-protecting for decades and if you think that hasn't polluted the federal system... well, I won't call you a clown behind your back.
