" it was suspending an agreement to minimize the risk of in-flight incidents between U.S. and Russian aircraft operating over Syria."
This is political speak for "we're going to start shooting at your planes."
As Han Solo would say, "I've got a bad feeling about this."

I do not have a very bad feeling about this with what we have there and what they have there I doubt that there are many suicidal Russian pilots.

I certainly hope that this event doesn't create a hostile conflict/war footing with Russia. A decision by Russia to become an active participant in this conflict could potentially have world changing consequences. That being said to allow Syria to get away with using chemical weapons unchecked also has worldwide potential consequences. I am not sure if the old Army adage, 'Doing something and having it potentially be something wrong, is better than doing nothing and certainly having it be something wrong" applies here. This is one of those areas where I am not sure there is a right answer. In this case I believe our only recourse is to trust our leadership to do the right thing. In the end, whether or not we support this move, it will still be our responsibility as our elected officials have enacted this course of action on our behalf. The only real course of action available to us in my opinion is to trust in our leadership. Some may argue that changing leadership would be appropriate, but realistically I really do not believe that is a viable possibility, as the President was within his authority to start this action. Therefore any action other than support for official policy is likely counterproductive. Short of removing the President from office, (which I do believe is extremely unlikely to be accomplished) any action other than support will negatively impact the ability of this country to move forward effectively. In the bigger picture this action is the responsibility of all Americans no matter what our personal views of this action are. A failed attempt to remove the President would be extremely damaging to the country (as would likely happen if it were attempted). To be honest and blunt, at this point I sincerely doubt anyone outside of several very highly ranked individuals who are highly cleared for high level classified information have enough information to TRULY KNOW if this was the right course of action to take or not. For those of us that don't really know the full details of why this decision was made, ask yourself , what if anything would make this a correct course of action in your point of view. Then ask yourself if you really know enough to say that might not be the case. I am sure of one thing, and that is, I simply don't have enough information to know what the right course of action would have been. For that reason, unless or until I definitively know that this course of action is in some way Illegal or exceeds the President's authority, I choose to fully support our elected leaders in their decision.

Thank you for your thought provoking and honest response. I'm sure this was not an easy decision as all possible repercussions are severe.

Alan K. - I am a liberal and I have been shooing for over 50 years, I am also adequately armed, even if not having an AR would lead other to disagree.
Why do some conservatives think that all liberals hate guns and/or are unarmed?
