Not P-3, That is an EP-3 Electronic Warfare, Flying Spook Central with Canadian CTs like myself onboard. The Meter antennas underneath are a dead giveaway.

The boom on the Back is a MAD Magnetic Anomaly Detector, detects anything big and metal underneath but designed to look for Subs. Mostly an Ear in the Sky, Range is dependent on the Bandwidth being used by your target. If he is operating in the MF/HF Spectrum, Virtually Unlimited. With the High View afforded by an Aircraft in the Higher Spectrum Theoretically 250 miles . I wouldn't want it looking for me and if it was I'd be sticking to Land Lines.

LTC (Join to see) - There is an old running joke about the Crappy Electrical System and Pneumatics Systems onboard failing but you're only screwed if they both Fail at the same time.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - you would hate for this plane to be another United 93 due to mechanical issues.

Nah the one that still reoccurs in my Nightmares is where I made my Bones. I was the O-Brancher On-Duty in FOSIC Fleet Operations and Information Center Pacific Fleet when Alpha Foxtrot 586 went in the Drink.
