Chip -- I had never heard that Manila had fallen to British and Indian Sepoy troops.... and it would make a good tall tale of how Indian Pale Ale came about.

The siege and capture of Manila during the Seven Years War (known in America as the French and Indian War) was, together with military campaigns in Europe, India and America (British and French colonies in North America, as well as British campaigns against French and Spanish holdings in the Caribbean), the reason why this was the first real world war.
