I do not think so! Christians know all life comes from God for He is life itself.

If hard evidence that the universe is billions of years old did not change their views nothing will.
Buddhists on the other-hand will just carry on as before.

The Bible does not give any time-line for the creation of the heavens and the earth. Some misguided people tried to calculate it at 4,000 years... but that is based on an incomplete understanding of theology.

SN Greg Wright - If you have Netflix, watch a documentary called "Extraterrestrial." No religious component, but pretty interesting 100% pure speculation (not meant as a criticism)

Maj John Bell - The point he raised was that man was created in the image of God, so (according to him) finding life of other sorts out there would raise theological questions. Note that I don't agree with him. I'm agnostic, but am perfectly willing to believe God created the universe, but FIRMLY believe that if He did, there's no way he created trillions upon trillions of celestial bodies for no other purpose than us to look at them. He'd've done it for other life forms, in my mind.

SN Greg Wright - I personally don't think the "created in the image of God" is a reference to physical appearance. Otherwise why would you be so good looking, while I look like a baboon's butt.
I try to stay out of the "What was God thinking? business" when it comes to anything other than how we treat each other. I think my ability to understand God is in the same vein as my dog's ability to understand Quantum Mechanics.
However, IF God chose to create the Platypus, I think it is probable that God is given to the occasional bout of "whimsy."

Maj John Bell - I appreciate that you are willing to engage an 'unsure-believer' like me without judgement, Major. Thank you.
