PO1 William "Chip" Nagel How many of us old Vietnam vets said that once China takes over Hong Kong from the British, "There goes a great liberty port"?

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I was there on USS Kearsarge CVS-33 in 1969. How about all those great tailors. I had a set of gaberdine blues made with zipper side and dragon liberty cuffs, and a fire breathing dragon on the pants flap. I had a suit made too and all for a fraction of the cost for tailor made clothes. I still have the Gabs, but I will never be able to get back into them! Also how about the floating restaurant? and the ferry to Kowloon and liberty there was even better.

CWO3 Dennis M. - Never bought any Clothes in HK but did get Me a Nice New Kimono in Phuket at Half Price for Throwing in My Ball Cap. Got Me a Nice Carat and a Half Semi Precious Stone for 13 Dollars in a Back Alley there too. I thought it was a Kick that by the Time We Left Phuket there wasn't a Ball Cap or Zippo Left on the Ship when the Guys realized What Great Currency they were, Most were used to Buy a Little Something on the Side So to Speak. I Do Miss Singapore, Phuket and Olongapo.
