The Navy needs to do a better job of screening for command. The same of the other services as well.

Not a lot of information there. I’m hoping this is a byproduct of the Navy taking a different look at who they are putting in command before another accident happens.

Total speculation on my part, even if not deploying again, while in command if his action or inaction endangered the crew of some of the systems he should be relieved. As old as that boat is I would think you would have to be even more vigilant in the daily internal operations. Don't know that he was or was not, but someone had to have a pretty strong case for a commander to be relieved of command. None of the services do that lightly.
