Christopher Caldwell understands the dynamics. Excellent read.

If we read the history of Ukraine, what is going on now has a history of going on in Ukraine since Medieval times, at least. It is a prime piece of real estate, and the people who live there have decided what alliances were to their advantage and/or fought battles which they have won, and lost. Ukraine has achieved independence a few times in the past few hundred years - only briefly.

Russia's possessiveness of Ukraine is nothing new. Russia needed an excuse to invade, which was NATO as a threat to Russia. How do we know the folks in Ukraine who want to ally with Russia were not cooperating with Russia by repeatedly asking to join NATO?

Our nation needs wise up and stop taking sides to "bring Democracy" to either governments or separatists in other nations, like it has been doing in Ukraine for quite a long time. It seems obvious that like Cuba is too close for comfort to U.S. for Russian missiles to have been installed there, so too Ukraine is too close to Russia for a Cold War organization like NATO to become it's unconditional protector. UN is the only organization that should have expressed an opinion, imo.

Light gray on white is very difficult for me to read, but it is a real mess over there.

SPC Michael Terrell It is difficult for everyone to read. No sense causing eye-strain if it is not necessary.
I use "Font Contrast" add-on with Firefox. Other browsers may have something similar that darkens text. Had to fool around with the configuring to get it to work, but it finally made the text black.

SGT Mary G. - Thanks. I tried earlier addons, but they just messed everything up I'll check it out. Most websites should be informative, not artistic.

SPC Michael Terrell - I have tried most of them. And sometimes when they do work, it is not for long.
Maybe simply bolding all text - only some websites can not be changed - supposedly their css. Maybe why add-ons don't work well too?
I agree. People don't go to websites to be dazzled with artistic and frequent layout changes when looking for information. I use an ad blocker too so when it is necessary to turn it off to access a page, it is astounding how obnoxious and NOT user-friendly websites have become.
Good luck . . . if you find anything that work . . . share it?
