The US Army Corps of Engineers has always been an interesting organization SP5 Mark Kuzinski. Although US Army is part of its name it is separate and distinct from the US Army. Last century it continued its separate and distance mission by helping design the interstate system which was first and foremost a military transportation network and secondarily a civilian commercial and passenger car network. Similarly they have oversight over our nation's waterways including the dike networks on the Mississippi River.

Nice history lesson this morning. The US Army Corps of engineers has been around for along time. I would look at some of the dams or building around places I have visited. I would see the Army Corps of Engineers on a brick or plack placed on the structure somewhere and would wonder why the Corps had built this. Now I understand. Thank you.
