Same thing with my wife, she's driving a Dodge Challenger and they give her dirty looks. When she goes to vote in a local election. They asked her for her driver's license which shows she's in the correct jurisdiction, they then ask her for a second form of ID and she has her business license which also shows her home address and then they asked her for utility bill which she had handy. Her driver's license is a Class 1 or Class A Big Rig drivers license with Advanced certificate. Then they tell her that her name is not on the list and she points it out right there. Reluctantly, the registrar gives her a the voting ballot. Next customer, a white person is only asked for one form of ID and there's cheers from the registrar. You are right, people treat her with disrespect. But if she's Somali, Hispanic from El Salvador, Chile, Argentina or a Filipino, the Canadians will treat them with more respect than their first Nations brethren. It's a sad fact. They did a study that people from the Northwest including Idaho, Utah Montana and Washington may have a propensity to be racist towards indigenous people and this redneck attitude permeates in western Canada. The Mohawks in the East, are more unified than the cree and Blackfoot in the West. My wife tells me of many stories of missing and murdered Aboriginal women. Some of them are not druggies and prostitutes but when the police find them, they really don't investigate. When my wife had an aneurysm 4 years ago, the police thought she was drunk because she had vomit all over the place and she was disoriented. It was our two older kids who had the convince them that she does not drink nor do drugs. They didn't take her to the best hospital but they were able to get a CAT scan and they finally took her to the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Alberta. A couple decades ago, natives had their own separate hospital and they were not allowed to come to the white man's Hospital. This is in the city of Edmonton a population of 1 million!
